What information we collect about you

We only collect personal information about you where it is specifically and knowingly provided by you, such as when you register with us. This includes your name, address, contact telephone numbers and email address. We treat all such data as personal data for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Where we store your personal data

The data we collect is stored on information technology systems owned and operated by Fitzalan House Veterinary Practice Ltd. All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet or email is not completely secure and although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted over the internet to our site or by email; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use all necessary procedures and security measures to try to prevent unauthorised access, loss, disclosure or amendment

How your personal data will be processed

Personal information which you supply to us may be used in the following ways, and directly relate to maintaining your pet in optimal health:
  • confirming the identity of individual pets
  • confirming appointment times
  • contacting you regarding laboratory test results
  • updating you on the health of your hospitalised pet
  • arranging collection times for pets after surgery or hospitalisation
  • advising of the timing of vaccinations and treatments you have purchased
  • rearranging appointment times in the case of emergencies
  • managing accounts

We may give your personal data to third parties where:

  • You wish to be referred to a specialist
  • We are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation or in order to enforce agreements or contracts or to protect our rights, our property, or the safety of our customers or others.
  • Debts are not settled

Your rights

You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. This includes a description of the data being processed, the purposes of processing and any recipients to whom the data is disclosed.
To exercise this right, you must make a subject access request in writing, stating the information you require. We may contact you to verify your identity or to clarify the precise information you require before processing your request and will answer your request within 30 calendar days.

You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data.

We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You have the right to correct your personal data at any time.

You have the right to prevent any unwarranted processing likely to cause damage or distress.

Please note that this will not include processing where a legal obligation for us to process the information exists.

Transfer of personal data outside the European Economic Area

We will not transfer your personal data out of the European Economic Area.

  • reminders to administer the antiparasitic products you have purchased from us.
  • a monthly newsletter containing:
    • - pet healthcare articles
    • - news about the practice
    • - our monthly offer

You have a right at any time to stop us from contacting you for marketing purposes, or to define changes to your preferences regarding reminders.

Retention policy

Statutory requirements exist to The Veterinary Medicines Directorate and HMRC to keep records for five and seven years respectively. We will not retain your Personal Data longer than is necessary to comply with these laws and/or regulations.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files sent to your computer and stored by your browser. They are used to remember browsing information. Because of cookies, your web browser can remember you are logged in, whether you've visited our site before and what your preferences are.
